Attach it to the pipe and if needed, use a rag to act as a seal at the mouth of the drainpipe.<\/li><li>Put on the vacuum and run it for a couple of minutes. Most AC unit models have a faceplate containing both controls as well as a display. The baseplate is fixed onto the wall. The AC unit won\u2019t turn on if the thermostat gets disconnected from the wall.<\/p><p>If the thermostat is powered by batteries, try and change them. Usually, by looking at the display on the faceplate, you can tell if the batteries are out.<\/p><p>If the thermostat is powered, check that all wires flowing towards and into the plate at the base are connected well.
